Bachelor of Engineering (Materials)
Code
KMEB3105
Title
Materials Production
Pre-requisite
None
Student Learning Time (SLT)
120 hours
Credit

Learning Outcomes
1.
Apply materials-thermodynamics knowledge to production
of materials.
2.
Identify ferrous and non-ferrous metals, non-metallic
materials and other materials used in industry
3.
Distinguish among extractive, conditioning, synthetic and
analytic industrial production processes.
4.
Describe the techniques for production of pig iron, steel and
other non-ferrous metals (particularly aluminum, copper and
magnesium).
Synopsis
The objective of this course is to equip students with knowledge
about the fundamentals of engineering materials and fuels in
order to analyze the industrial production processes, and
ultimately to extract the materials (mostly ferrous & non-ferrous
metals with little coverage of processing of polymers).
Assessment
40 % Continuous Assessments
60 % Final Examination
